The first step is great I woke up proud of myself & happy every morning, the second step wasn't bad either but I felt a little less like my usual self, the third step was bloody hell...because that's when you really start dealing with the addiction aspect & not so much the habit part.
Have a plan and keep active...I had to have something in my hands at all times ( I purchased a stress ball, knit constantly at night, and avoided all the places I usually smoked in my home) and I purchased lots of bubble gum.
I was told by a doctor that the best kind of gum to purchase were the types that made your mouth tingly & hot.
Drink lots of water & I would opt to stay on step 2 for a little longer than what they claim should be enough.
Congratulations on your decision...& remember to treat yourself to a little something at the end of each week to boost your morale.
Also be sure to join an online smoking support group or keep the number handy for the smoker's helpline in your area.

Cravings last only a couple of minutes at most. When you have one, divert your attention to something else until it passes.
It takes 7 days for your body to go through withdrawal and be fully cleared of nicotine. After that, it is all psychological.
It's not actually the nicotine that is the tough part, it is getting the habit of smoking, having something in your hand, and in your mouth. Especially when you are used to having one with your coffee, while on the phone, etc.
Good luck and I am sending positive thoughts your way!
PS and when you have an urge, stay away from high calorie substitutes. Use carrot sticks, celery, sugarfree gum, etc.
And also, drink plenty of water, it helps to flush and detox the system.
