He says that according to al qaeda's MO, they like to strike during the summertime and there have been increased training sessions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

He reiterates that there is no specific threat, however.

Is this a false alarm? Is he trying to scare us for no reason?

Your thoughts, please.

I heard it an it is not very useful. I don't know what to think about it.

I am just using it as a reminder to check on my family's emergency plan and emergency kit. It is prudent for everyone to do so. Whether or not there is a terrorist attack or a natural disaster, I implore you to have a plan that you, your spouse and children know to follow in the event that something happens and cellular phone service is unavailable.

Do your kids know what to do if you are at work and they are at school or camp or daycare? Where should they go? Where will you meet? If you cannot go to your house do you have a secondary shelter in a safe area with relatives or friends arranged? Do they have adequate supplies for all of you to last several days if necessary?

This insidious enemy will attempt further attacks against us sooner or later regardless. It is not reasonable to expect our national security to be 100% air tight. That means some thing may get through. Anyone who lives near coastal major cities, ports or industrial complexes should always be ready for anything. This goes double for people near Washington D.C.

Ah, they are trying to scare the sheeple into silent submission again by rearing Osama bin-boogeyman's ugly head.

I'll take it as a threat.... just like I take Giuliani's statement that "there will be a terrorist attack if a Democrat is elected to the White House" as a threat.

Chertoff is just another in a long line of traitors that I would love to see hung by his thumbs until one could find a suitable means of punishment for them.

I'm so glad to see this question . I was just going to post one like it , only with a twist .
Couldn't you just predict that someone in the Government would come up with this exact phase .
It seems every time it gets a little uncomfortable around the White House , there's a reason to be afraid in this country , according to Bush's men .
Why didn't he have a gut feeling about Katrina and 9/11 ?????

Yes I heard about this. Interestingly enough I heard about it on the same day that the surge was being questioned on effectiveness.
This is a tired pattern with this Administration, someone questions the war and suddenly there is a threat of a terrorist attack, the terror level is raised. This time though Chertoff claims to have a gut feeling an attack is imminent because its summertime. I mean why not an attack because its Wednesday or his grandmother wore red underwear. The pattern of what they do is clear to anyone willing to look.

I heard about it. It's pretty sad when we here about people's gut feeling in the news instead of real things like the Illuminati and the NWO.
It's even sadder if the US government will rely on his gut feeling. I mean AL QUIDA is always trying to attack, but can't one of the superpowers like rely on something other than a gut feeling?

Polls down, threat level up. I bet we go to super secret code 11 before the elections roll around next year.

It would be different for most of us if he had something to substantiate his claim. You don't tell people there might be a terrorist attack based on a gut feeling. What is he a swami now. That might have just been the taco salad he had for lunch.
