I think it is brilliant.
China is the new up and coming superpower in the world and needs to continually work on its global image. The one major advantage that they have is a huge source of cheap labor which drives their burgeoning economy. They can't allow corruption and scandals to make other countries, especially the USA, wary of buying their products especially as they branch out into new products not typically associated with the "made in China" brand. In this case there was also a direct link between the bribery and 12 deaths.
Maybe we should try this with some of our politicians.

They were pretty harsh with the head of the Food and Drug Administration. But lots of people died from tainted goods, so I guess he deserved it, although we would never see that in Western nations. I wonder what happened to the people who were giving bribes.
I am assuming you are referring to the execution of the head of the FDA over there taking bribes.
I think China wants to be taken seriously and this is a message.

it is not only a problem in china but worldwide. mankind has always been corrupt. there are some exceptions but only in very little community's

I'd say they incourage it. O when there is some bitches from out side they will do something then go right back to the way they were.
Corruption is a way of life there.
