People or rather most people-
Lie to save another's feelings. I might lie and say things will be ok (how would it sound and make you feel if I said yeah lifes gonna suck forever) but will not lie saying yes you look good when you look bad.
I will not lie (fib) to a direct question I might stretch or be vague example: My mom was hit by a car while riding her bike in feb she broke her back and neck and is paralyzed from the chest down the doctors don't think she will ever walk again but that is not a for sure, I don't think she will walk either. When she askes me I tell her that it is not for sure that she WILL walk again and its important for her to keep working n getting better just for the chance that she will. This gives her something to work for. If I tell her that we don't think she will walk again what does that give her? If she slacks of in therapy she will not do many things but if she works she can do more. There are time when you need to fudge the line of truth and lie.
People always want to make others feel better.
Would you rather them make you feel bad

Right but remember sometimes the truth is better than lie because someone gets justice but a lie might also shine the light of truth sometimes . I explained in hard words but did u understand??? When ever u feel a lie is better go for it. But do think and differenciate between it.Think if the truth is said what will happen and also like that think the opposite of it ur heat or mind will tell u what is right.

They don't want to hurt your feelings and make you sad. I know it doesn't help...but I guess they feel that it is nessessary for lying.
example: if you went shopping with your "so called" best friend and you got two shirts. One really nice one and another a horrible ugly one. Try both on and see which one they say is better. If they say the ugly one then you know they are lying, pehaps they are jealous of you? but you also can't hold it against them..your friend just might have bad taste XD
Your friend could of lied to protect your feelings or is serious. Sometimes you just don't want to hurt someone else's feelings.

Well generally people lie to not hurt the others persons feelings or when they are hiding something..I dont think people should lie but it really depends on what type of lie...And I believe when you start lying it becomes an addiction and you cant stop...

The world is filled with greys. If a woman shows you a butt ugly baby and asks you if the baby isn't the cutest thing you've ever seen----do you tell the truth? If so shouldn't you be charatable to her and say that the baby is beautiful? That is how life really is. It isn't black and white. It is usually a compromise for the better good and that is why many loved ones lie.

I do too. I appreciate when someone is truthful with me. I think people don't want to make you irritated or sad or cause negative feelings so they lie. They wouldn't know how to handle a negative feeling in somone else.
I think if you communicate with people and agree to take their opinions with a grain of salt, then they may begin to be more truthful with you.

wether you admit it or not it does make you feel better, most of the time.
even if you think they 'are just saying it to be nice' you do believe them. it raises your self-esteem slightly, even if you dont notice it. slowly it adds up. i would always bat away a comment like that but really it does make you feel good.
maybe its really just the fact that they would even bother to lie to make you feel better, but it still helps.
umm...PS, im talking about those little white lies or lies to protect someones feelings and stuff. not serious lies or anything.
but if they need to hear the truth then show them the 'tuff love' of course

If you are down enough, there is likely NOTHING anyone can say to make you feel better. It is the support and companionship that helps. If you are a good friend, you might appreciate the intentions of these people, rather than nit-picking them over their methods when likely there is nothing they can do to make you feel better. Ultimately, feeling better is in YOUR hands, not theirs.

first ..cool picture..
everyone tells small lies to make their partner feel better like "does my but look big in these jeans".... is the answer ... no dear, not any bigger then those shorts you just had on... we simply say "no you look wonderful and I love how those look on you and then give her a kiss... things like this happen every day.. lets say she spends hours in the kitchen cooking and she's so proud of what she made.. do you say ... ewwww what is that? or do you say honey that looks great, and tastes even better, let me clean up for you.. Come on we all tell little fibs

Totally! Because if someone has a low self esteem, and cries everyday about it, but someone comes to them and says to them all these great things about them to them---IT'S A LIE! And it hurts even more because now you're self esteem is even lower.
=(
