Liet...your definition of "church" really differs from the Bibles definition....

Scripture does not say anything regarding the authority of the church on this matter or any other matter. In addition, the church did not come before the Scriptures – the Old Testament and the words of Jesus were binding on them from the beginning.

Only Jesus’ immediate disciples had the authority to speak for him. This authority was not passed on. In addition, the situation with the Eastern Orthodox Church has been overlooked.

As a practical matter, the Roman Catholic Church has already been mistaken in the past about the canon as well as persecuting those who wanted the Scripture in the hands of the people. There is no history of any divine guidance of the Roman Catholic Church on these matters.
Consequently the final authority for all matters of faith and practice should rest solely on the Bible not upon any external organization.

You are correct. The pope statement, although not share by many, is not as offensive as the headline first indicated.

I stopped believing everything that came out of the Pope's mouth when they changed the mass from Latin to English or another other language.
It used to be a sim to eat meat on Friday but it isn't anymore. I don't belive that somebody can be a thief and killer all week long but if he goes to Church on Sunday he is absolved.

I think I took the good out of what I was taught in my 10 years of Catholic schools and live my life in accordance with God's wishes not what has happened to his wishes through the human faults of the elected leaders that profess infallability. That infallablity is only the things theological and not business.

I think I fit into John 3:16 more than the Pope.

*Is Catholic*

The Pope said that the Orthodox are true Church. They are not Catholics so you are totally wrong.

Please note, if you do not have a Bishop with apostolic succession and you do not believe in the Eucharist, then you cannot be a Church. The Eucharist is central to the nature of the Church. Protestant dogma rejects both the Eucharist, apostolic succession, and the duty of priests to preform sacrifice, thus it is not possible to call them Church.
