What are some strategies to deal with people like this online?

Just ignore them they think they are expert . My mom used to say just ignore ppl like that . It rings true . ignore them . good luck .

I've seen knowledge bullies attack folks of palpably higher intelligence but they lacked the capacity to grasp it. They win by being noisier and using pettiness to dishearten an honest intellectual or truth seeker. It's impossible to not have them in this program, but I've found it best to not speak of any intellectual hot topic the moment I detect that this or that person is intellectually dishonest.
Where there are points and prizes, there is competition, where there is competition, there is malice and all sorts of bad stuff.
Someone said that while a person is satisfied with their own opinion, they'll never listen to yours
Since it's not real knowledge, they may also be called information or fact bullies. Real honest, critical, objective thinking wouldn't be attributed to them

There are a few of them here, aren’t there. I can’t understand anyone who wants to insult or offend others for no apparent reason other than to flaunt their knowledge or intelligence in areas where others may not be so well-informed. And why do some people take things so seriously that they fail to see the fun side in some questions?
The ‘knowledge bullies’ (what a good description) clearly feel they can take advantage of those of us they perceive as less intelligent and more vulnerable and it must give their ego a boost - this drawing attention to their ‘superior’ knowledge.
What strategies to deal with people like this online? (and offline). Don’t let them make you feel intimidated. – They obviously have no manners and no consideration of other people’s feelings! – And the thing is they find plenty sitting targets to aim their verbal bullets at here don’t they. - Why do they do it? To feel superior and in control? To enjoy reading our reactions? For that reason probably the best thing we can do is ignore them. Maybe they’re doing it to hide their own feelings of inadequacy in other areas. Perhaps they haven’t learned how to be polite.
Bullies want a reaction so to ignore them will deprive them of that satisfaction. Feel for them. The reason they must assert their superior influence over those who are less intelligent than them (or who they perceive to be so) might be their way of coping with their problems (taking out their aggression on others).
And even if they are cleverer, why be so insulting? Beats me! But if it makes them happy .... let them get on with it while we ignore it.

Yes, I have been attacked by a couple when asking questions "they" dont like, etc. I just ignore them. They obviously dont have anything better to do than spout off and bully. :0)

you want knowledge bullies? go to youtube and go to the search box and type any popular noun and place "sucks" after it, for example: America sucks, Gwar Sucks, George W. Bush Sucks. They all lead to some guys rant and there is always some crappy argument in the comments.
