I mean, America's cities are rife with crime. Burning cars, drive-by shootings, murder for gang acceptance, etc.
These are a worse problem to me and not enough is done about it because US attention is fixed thousands of miles away.

Gang violence and violent crime do not have "all the people of the United States" in their agenda. They also don't target landmarks in the United States, they don't have anything against the "American" people. Terrorists on the other hand are all about destroying the United States (all of the US). that's just my thought.

Apparently you do not know very many cops or prosecutors. Truth is that there are more police officers and prosecuting attorneys in this country than there are soldiers in Iraq, and all of them are concerned with eliminating violent crime. We also have thousands of victim service agencies dedicated to eliminating crime and helping victims. So it is not like this issue is really being ignored. It just isn't in the media as much, because people are less interested in it.

In any case, terrorism is a political act. Gang violence and violent crime in general are not treated as terrorism because they are not. That is not to say that you are wrong that they need more attention, but you're comparing two different things and trying to make them one. That is not necessary. Should more be done? Yes, but gang violence does not have to be redefined as terrorism to be important.

Crimes in accordance with motivation have been around through fact the inception of the US. the version between manslaughter and homicide is purpose and reason.

It's not treated as terrorism because it's not. It doesn't fit the criteria of being terrorism therefore it's not classified as such. Wouldn't it be great if we could just lump everything together and label it terrorism?
No ... no it wouldn't ...

Well then complain to your local officials and get them to do something about it. This does not happen on every street in the US.
