Hi, I'm a foreigner who is living in Mumbai for 2 month.

I bought Airtel pre-paid SIM card 2month ago and I used without problem for 1 month.(I submitted my passport, company ID, Employment Visa invitation letter from Indian company etc.)

After 1 month later, I recharged Rs.3000 into my SIM card.
But, around 3 weeks ago, Airtel suddenly permamantely disconnected my number without any notice with my balance of Rs. 2500.

I complained about this and Airtel told me that My document which I've submitted was not enough to maintain my number.

Ok!(I accepted their reason, even if I work for very big Indian company an my all documents are came from that company)
And I asked them about my remained balance Rs. 2500
But, they told me that they cannot give my balance back to me also. I went Airtel customer care office for several times( this also costs around Rs.1000 and I spend whole day for this complain), But their answer is always same.

How can I figure out this problem? Thank

I have full sympathies for you & agree yours is a genuine case where the Airtel should have refunded your balance amount. This is a fit case to be complained to the district consumer forum for the deficiency of service under the Consumer Protection Act, 1986. But knowing it fully well the way the matter are decided even in the district consumer forum as they take 1 to 3 years to decide such small issues I will suggest you to meet some responsible senior officer of Airtel & make a formal complaint to him. You should give this complaint in writing to such senior officer & take an acknowledgement of receipt of this complaint, in case he also fail to solve your problem then you can file a complaint with the consumer forum in Mumbai district where the main or branch office of Airtel is located & wait for the result which may take time as I told you, nothing more you can do in such a case, but ask for refund of the balance & cost against this company through the consumer forum. This case can be filled only in the district consumer forum not the State consumer council as the value of the complaint service is less then twenty five lakhs.

YOU CAN CONTACT A LAWYER WHO IS IN PUBLIC PRACTICE

THERE IS A TV SHOW ON CNBC AAWAZ CALLED PEHREDAR.

THE SPECIALITY OF THIS PROGRAM IS THAT IT DEALS WITH THE COMPANIES FROM THE PART OF THE CONSUMER

JUST DROP A MAIL AT

PEHREDAR@MONEYCONTROL.COM

AND MOST MATTERS ARE RESOLVED WITHIN A MONTH

YOU DONT NEED TO THINK ABOUT HOW MANY YEARS WILL THE CASE TAKE.

OR ELSE U CAN GO TO THE CONSUMER COURT WITHOUT NEEDING A LAWYER

OF COURSE KEEPING A LAWYER IS GOOD BUT

U CAN APPLY IN THE CONSUMER COURT ON A PLAIN PAPER STATING THE PROBLEM U HAVE FACED AND THE COMPONSATION U DEMANDED AND THE ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN

I would contact the better business bureau. If they aren't going to turn your phone back on, they need to give you your money back. Good luck!
