If you were to go swimming without a tampon- then most likely
#1 even though most of the time water slows down the menstrual flow you'll get blood on the water...
#2 if wearing a pad it will soak up so much that when you get out of the water you'll look like you're wearing a diaper
#3 although pools, lakes, beaches etc have germs already, you're spreading even more germs in the pool with your blood. When people go swimming- don't matter where you are wether is a pool or lake- people open their mouths & swallow water, I know it sounds disgusting, but in a pool the water doesn't travel, it stays in the same area so it would be even more disgusting going in on your period without a tampon, & having people swallow bloody water.
My Advice: Wear a tampon.

with some people, the pressure of the water stops the menstrual flow. but with others, the flow continues. its never advisable to go swimming during your period because you're prone to infection (from chlorine in the pool or saline acids in the ocean). wearing a tampon will greatly reduce the risk of infection only when you're in your mid-period days.

Yuck. Then you and everyone else would be swimming around in your blood. It is not safe for you OR everyone else. NO tampon=No pool.
(Water DOES NOT stop a period! it just washes away the blood)

Depends. Some people make a cloud of blood. Others barely get any, and none that you can see. Sometimes cold water can slow the flow.

You may not have much to worry about...with many women, when in water, their flow will likely be minimal.

If you have HIV, AIDS, Hepatitus, you are putting every person in that pool at risk to contracting it.
