America's strength is in her people. Not in the political parties. Never forget that.

Neither is stronger as each, Reps and Dems are only concerned with their own political "power". American's (people from the U.S.) are very disillusioned b/c nothing gets accomplished in Congress. I've said this before but if the Republican's have a good bill before the house and senate, the Democrats will vote it down and visa versa. Neither wants the other to have any sort of good press. So, essentially, nothing gets accomplished. And, "we the people", really do not have a say, per se, because we are a Representative Republic not a Democracy. Hence, even if the state I was from, had a popular vote for an independent candidate for president, the electorial college would still cast it's vote for either a Republican or Democrat. In my home state it is basically Republican, hence the vote would be for a Republican.
That is why NOTHING gets done and those who went through Katrina are still waiting on "grants" from the Government. (yep, 2 years Aug 29th). And the region is still devasted.
However, I would hate for them to have too much power as power corrupts, so, as ill fated as it is, I still like living here and being involved and enjoy meeting people without self interests but common interests for the good of the community. We need more "leaders" who think of the people instead of their own agenda.
With all of the flack Bush get's I often wonder how popular Lincoln was during the Civil War? Couldn't have been very popular at the time and yet now we exhault him as a hero. You never can tell how History will judge a person/president. However, our current congress is in disarry. As evidenced by the polls.
Almost forgot, vote for Rudy or Fred if he ever decides to run. Just please let the Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton legacy END! Enought of them already.

The Revolution continues, only these days it's a war of words. It's anyone's guess as to whether Left or Right will win the main argument[s] of the day and form a government.
By focusing on the issue of Global Warming [climate change], the Left hope to subject sufficient numbers of the electorate to vote for them. Based on the misleading assumption that somehow the Left in America have a magic wand and that this wand will blow away all the problems, real or imaginary.
Don't blame me, I didn't vote for it.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch here in UK, we have more important issues to contend with, apart from Global Warming, International Terrorism, crime, guns, juvenile delinquency [where have I heard that before]? and a whole lot of other issues which seem to have completely disappeared from the streets of America. Now that Geo.Bush is in charge.
Edit: regerugged above is on to something. Here in UK such a situation is called a 'hung parliament', although I prefer the word hanged. What it means in effect that no political party has overall command and must therefore form a coalition with other parties.
Unfortunately this situation seldom occurs here in UK, which is a pity, because like regerugged above, I believe it would put the breaks on government extravagance, profligate spending and corruption - or plain theft as it's called in English, of the people's hard earned revenues.

What's right for America? Since when is an unfounded expensive war, 11 trillion deficit, overpriced military and jacked up economy right for America? If anything it takes a strong spine to admit you're wrong. I have much more respect for someone who admits a mistake rather than offer up excuses. In my world an ex-employee's name is good for 30 days 60 max. But not over 20 years - Pres Carter. They should give it a rest already. But I don't think that will happen. All I hear is whining and the same old tune from the Republicans.

Usually it's always the ruling party. But because everybody hates George W. Bush, the Democrats(opposition) are more powerful than the Republicans(ruling) as they control both houses of congress.

I think US Lady above wold make a good President. My dad once said something to me when I was younger. He said, 'Son, it doesn't matter WHO is in power, because unless you're rich, you are always going to have to work for a living and what they give you on one hand they take it away on the other. True word. All politicians lie, they never give you a straight answer and they are all very good at getting fat off the working people.
If politicians really had the peoples' interests at heart then they should do the job for free.
America has presidents who act and once had an actor for a president.

We don't have opposition/ruling. Our government is divided: Republican Administration, Democrats in control of the House of representatives. Senate in chaos. That is the way I like it. Nothing gets done, so the government cannot screw anything up.

it does not work that way here. we have two major parties, and many small independent parties. they "rule" (actually govern is a better word.) together.
