my pc is the printer server with a static connection. one day all client workstations cannot print to the printer. I have been checked all the possibilities caused by this problem (USB cable, NIC, printer). I've also tried other pc as a printer server. The only solution was a format all clients pc's. It there any solution other than formating? It is caused by by virus infection or in the network? It there anyone who experienced and solved this problem? Please share you ideas, experience and knowledge.

Want more information like what error you are getting when you give the print or when you browse the pc where the printer is connected.

From your information, something seems odd.

Reboot all pcs first and see if the problem has gone away. I have seen this simple process do wonders.

Assigning the pc a static LAN IP is appropriate. Lets call this PC1 herein (and all other PCs LAN PCS). The printer should be set up and working on PC1. You did not indicate if the printer would work from PC1 when it failed elsewhere. If it does not work on PC1, it will not work elsewhere. PC1 must be on for the printer to print.

Now in PC1, make sure the printer is set as a shared printer. Note the name you give it.

Now go to each network pc, other than PC1, and remove the old reference to this printer. Now add a new printer and follow the prompts. You should be able to print a test page from the LAN PC. If not, and you can print a test from PC1, there may be a print driver issue. Reboot the LAN PC and try again. You should be OK; if not write again indicating what you did.

Viruses usually do not foul up network printers.

most likely due to the fact that the print server does not have all the correct drivers for each operating system. Go to the print server, find the printer, do a properties on it, one of the tabs will have the drivers. Make sure WinXP is checked.
