I'm interested in making all kinds of beats for different types of genres, and want lots of sound options, a library that can be expanded, the ability to sample and to create original music, and I'm not really eager to mess with Fruity Loops cause it seems limited, but that could stem from my lack of experience with music equipment. Basically I wanna know if it's best to go the CPU & software route, or the more traditional keyboard and hardware route. Then, I'd like to know how much dough it would take to have a decent set up for either route. I'd like to be able to have something that could help me generate cash at least locally if I get cold enough. So, I guess that's pretty much it, and thanks in advance to all you wonderful folks for answering, and helping me out.

As you’re not experienced (yet), I’d go for the P.C. option. Take Fruiy Loops or Ableton to start with. In FL, all the options are there, the people telling you it is too limited, should look at theirselves and reassess their own capabilities, besides, it’s easy to find software cracks for it. Ableton on the other hand, is used more in the pro field than FL, but more expensive).
All the options you want are in any good program, so you shouldn’t worry about that. All you need is a good PC, ambition, and soul. You’ll make it. I would advise you to buy a midi-keyboard to record stuff. Works easier.
So, no money needed, use internet.
