You best start with a job hunt.
If not yet for real, at least to see what kind of job is available and how much they would pay.
If you decide to work for a company from your own country, (USA, UK?) you will likely be helped with all the paperwork involved, or at least told what you need and where to go to get started.
The Armed forces use a lot of civilians for support staff at their bases, and many of them are from the home country.
Some big companies also take part of their staf.
If you decide to work for a Spanish company (whether big or just a one man and a help kind,) you will need to have a working permit, visa and all for long term if you want to stay in the country.
The embassy or consulate will be able to tell you what you need to do to get that, but do not expect to get them easily, as there are many people who want to work in other countries, while un-employment in high. Most countries have this info on their English language web-pages.
After you have found that there are jobs, check if your job-training will be recognized. If not, what you need to work in your kind of job or what kind of job you will be able to get.
Next, see what they pay.
How expensive it is to live in the country, housing, insurance, health-care, daily needs and so on.
Can you make enough for the two of you?
Do you speak Spanish, both of you? If not, start to learn it immediately, as you need to speak the local language.
