When you're trying too hard to make it work. Nothing lasts when nothings there.

It depends on what's going on. If it's abuse, first time should always be the last time.

If it's just other stuff, like he bugs you or something, or you don't like how he laughs or don't look forward to seeing them anymore, that would be a good indication the relationship isn't going where you want it to go.

The best indicator is if you can't remember why you liked them so much in the first place or if the things you liked start to become major annoyances that tick you off. When two people start dating, everything is cool and you want to know more about them and know them better as a person. Once you know them a good bit better, though, a weak relationship will start to dissolve as you know more and more about them. The good relationships are the ones where both know about each other's faults (we all have them) but the love and or affection is still there in spite of them.

If you don't feel that emotion or something similar, enough is enough and it's time to end it.

I hope that answered the question. Without knowing specifics, that's the best I could do.

Good luck.

PS: Since you're asking this question, my opinion is you've already had enough and just have to resolve yourself to doing something about it. It's hard, I know, but in the end it'll be worth it if it allows you (and the other person too) to find a relationship that'll make you happy in the way that you need it to. To do anything else is to cause both of you to suffer more than necessary because it's most likely not going to work if you're unhappy enough to ask this question.

when trust & respect are gone and the only companion/s left are suspicion, lies, hurt.
when you feel that too much has happened for you to be able to forgive & forget.
when you just resign yourself to the relationship coz you're too afraid to: start over, think that the devil you know is better, when you think you have no choice in the matter.
when you can live without them but you'll be damned if you're going to let them go
when you start playing mind games & trying to manipulate the other
when you start using their past mistakes to justify your own behaviour & nastiness...
I'd say that would be enough to leave.

When the bad times outway the good times. When small resolvable molehill issues turn into gargantuan scary mountains possesed by resident evil issues, as everytime you try to approach them thats how you feel and your getting no backup, assistance or just plain denial from your 'loved' one.
When touching them turns your stomach and being touched by them makes you feel violated.
If however this is not the case then its redeemable but both parties have to want it.

when you cant find common ground
when your partner goes out of there way to offend you or prove you wrong.
when you sense, see or experience and type of aggressive behavior whether it be just the way your partner handles situations or if your partner ever yells at you like a child or threatens you in any sort of way.
Constant fighting over any stupid reason is a clear indication that it is enough.

There just comes a point when you know. When the little things that used to annoy you make you wanna scream. Also when the trust has gone, there is no point what soever after this point.

When you come to the realization
that things aren't going anywhere.

It's like beating a " Dead Horse ",
a waste of time, as it's not going to move.

When It's over, It's over.

it really depends on the relationship I believe, but a good rule of thumb is when the cops are called the first time, it's over

I would say when you never find yourself smiling anymore. Everyone ends up knowing. It's just a matter of when. Some deny it longer than others.

The short answer is , when he starts throwing his socks at the wall just to see if they stick and when they do you decide that they make good decorations that need to be framed.
