Most people on Depo don't have periods at all, or have light spotting.

Depo can actually keep you from having periods altogether. Some women take it for that reason. I'm surprised your doctor didn't explain that to you. If you've been having unprotected sex for the last two weeks or in the days leading up to the time you started on the Depo, you might have a situation. Birth control doesn't take effect immediately. If that's the case, you may want to take a pregnancy test and/or call your doctor.

yes you can miss a period being on depo provera shot. Also its possible to gain weight so be careful, my friend gained a lot of weight when she had that shot. you should read the pamphlet they gave you if they did.

DEPO PROVERA WILL MAKE YOU MISS PERIODS. I WAS ON IT FOR A COUPLE YEARS AND I GOT PERIODS EVERY 3 MONTHS OR SO, MOSTLY LIGHT THOUGH WHEN IT DID COME ON.
I DIDN'T GAIN WEIGHT LIKE MOST WOMEN THOUGH. BUT I DID EXPERIENCE MOOD SWINGS, MY HAIR SHEDDING MORE THAN USUAL AND A LACK OF SEX DRIVE.
I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THIS CAN BE THE CASE FOR SOME WOMEN.
I RESEARCHED WHERE DEPO WAS USED IN PRISONS FOR MALE SEX OFFENDERS TO SUPPRESS THEIR SEX DRIVE.
I OPTED TO QUIT USING THIS FORM OF BIRTHCONTROL BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF HAIR THAT I WAS LOSING AND ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF SEX DRIVE.
SO BE ADVISED THAT THESE OTHER SYMPTOMS CAN OCCUR TO YOU ALSO..

you may not have a period until you go off of the shot.....
I took it for 1 year.....I started it on after I had my second child....LOL, that is the only way I remember the dates......when I went back for my 2 week checkup, I took the shot, May 17......I took my last shot on Jan. 17, 1994.....and I did not have a period...until Jan. 1996.......
It was very hard on my body and after about 6 months, I started gaining weight.......I had mood swings...I just do not think it is normal not to have a period each month, that is the bodies way of cleaning itself, so to speak......

the shot is the worst thing that you can get on. Missing your period is normal but after youre on it for a while you will realy want to get off of it.

Yup, you may not ever get your period on the shot.
You may end up getting spotting at odd moments.
