I'm 18, and want to know if it's possible for me to miss my period after my first shot of depo provera birth control. This is my first time using birth control and i've never been pregnant. I got my shot about two weeks before my period was supposed to come. It was supposed to come 5 days ago but hasn't come yet. It was late last month, but came 5 days later and that was before I got my shot.

I would never suggest to anyone to take the depo shot. It is like poison. You most likely will gain weight. Your hair can thin. You can get acne. Your periods can become irregular. Switch to a oral pill you will be sorry if you do not.

Yup you can miss or totally not have any period while on the shot. Which is one of its two good things about it.

I was on it for four years and had spotting at odd times.

I am so glad I'm off that!

Jenn is right, there are HORRIBLE side affects to this shot. Class action lawsuits, fertility issues, bone density issues, etc.!

Google "depo provera lawsuit" and read up!

ur periods become irregular for a little while, then after time, u will know exactly the day and everything to when its supposed to come.i do not recommend the shot to anyone! it makes u feel pregnant by gaining so much weight. i gained 20 pounds in one month.when i seen how much i weighed then id never seen that weight, ever, on me, or even came close to it! switch to the pills... so much easier, and healthier.
