...lIkE bOiNg BoNkErS bAnAnAs, gOnErS OvEr tHe eDgErS??? Good God, the more I read posts from my fellow Americans the more my mind goes back to a sociology professor I once had back in 89'. During a class I had questioned his teaching about repetitious/cyclic behavior in ALL societies through out recorded history. His teaching of "mandatory" but "voluntary" regeneration of the past sociological events in a given society disrupted the entire class during the following discussions. An example of this happened to me right here on yahoo answers. I had an email contact with a gal that was a disheartened democrat. When I turned her on to Ron Paul, she admitted that Ron Paul was what she was looking for in a president, BUT, she was afraid to vote for him because she did not want to vote for a republican!!! I told her Ron is Libertarian standing on the repub ticket, but she said she won't vote off the demo ticket! Folks, is this the "my team" mentality or what? What's your take on this?

While I agree with many things Ron Paul says, he is not likely to get the Republican nomination. If he runs on the Libertarian or independant ticket, he is just going to get us stuck with a democrat or republican that we don't want because of getting their votes. He is unlikely to win. This has happened before.

Maybe you have a point that by election day, people will be ready for another party, but as of now, I don't see that happening. Also, if by some miracle, he did win, would the house go along with what he wants? Would anything at all get accomplished? I know it sounds simple, but it really isn't.

It might sound crazy but there are still people who are die hard Republicans and vote a straight Republican ticket no matter who is on the ticket or what the platform is.

There are also die hard democrats who will vote nothing but a straight democratic ticket no matter who is on the ballot or what they stand for.

And if your state is using voting machines they most likely have two levers at the top with one lever being Republican and the other lever being demcrat. for the folks that vote straight tickets.
And it is amazing how history repeats itself.sociologically isn't it.

I'd rather we'd go Warner Bros. Looney Tunes than where we are now.

At least, back then, people knew how to behave when their country was at war.

I think we're more like one flew over the cuckoo's nest, or Jack in the Shining...

you and your prof are a little naive. you think people vote policy. they actually back candidates that stroke their own sense of who they are. the only thing that trumps that is direct puciniary interest.
