"luck' i believe, is created by the individual who achieves.

It isn't original with me, but I have heard (and experienced) that luck is when preparation meets opportunity. I believe that success can be had without luck (good or bad), although it helps to have a few good breaks go your way. We errantly sometimes view highly successful people as having been very lucky, when in fact they may have worked their tail off to achieve their success. Continue working hard and "luck" will find you and reward your efforts. (You will see that it wasn't so much the "luck" as it was the hard work).

The old phrase 'it's who you know, not what you know' has a lot of truth in it.
