The each time my husband called me from Iraq. I was able to talk to him for about 30 minutes a month, and the time just flew so past while I was on the phone. When it was over all I could think about was waiting another 30 days to hear from him.

when i got a call from someone that i had been trying to help out and no matter what i did, it was never enough (rented a house and paid two months rent and utilities, bought furniture, food, etc. for two adults and 5 kids) just to be told she was pregnant again and they needed more money...they refused to get and hold a job and i could not absorb any more on my salary and take care of myself and my kids....i had to tell them, to start packing and leave...i could not do it any more...i mean you can only do so much for someone, but if they refuse to try to do something for themselves to make their lives better, it will not do any good....i had to face that although i had tried, i had failed....and those kids would suffer for the adults actions (or lack of)...that is when the emptiness hit me and it took me a long time to come to peace with it...

When my daddy would call from Saudi Arabia and I would get to talk to him for about 5 minutes because of 6 others in the family wanting to talk 2 dadddy.

Everytime my family calls me with news... I moved 2100 miles away from them for work... since then both my grandfather's have died, one of my grandmothers, two of my friends have gotten married, I've gained a new nephew and new niece and I wasn't there for any of it... I simply got a phone call.

I am falling in love with my neighbor and when she calls and we chat after we say goodbye, I realize how empty my life is and I get sad.

Sunday morning, talking to one of my favorite aunts. She is dying, and the conversations are getting more and more difficult to keep afloat, and her voice is fading away. I love her so much, we used to talk for hours, and laugh like loons. We don't do that anymore, and that hurts.

My ex bf called to invite me to be in his wedding. I felt sad not because I wanted him back, because the girl he married didn't love him. (they are now divorced) I felt so cynical about love when he didn't listen to me and hung up the phone.
