This HP-Compaq has most of what you have there, but has more RAM and a larger hard drive and is 300 dollars cheaper.....

I would get an Acer if I was you. I was on about the same budget and a student as well. The manager of staples used to work for several comp companies and knew a lot. He told me about how Acers motherboards are in most comps that are good. I trusted him and bought one. That was 2 years ago and my laptop still runs like the day I bought it. I love it and now I am an Acer buyer for life.

DO Not ever buy a dell THEY SUCK! I did have an HP computer before this acer it was good for awhile but not to long everything went down fast and it eventually stopped working after a few years, I would never get another one.

NOT a very good laptop at all for $850. Here's what i would buy :

>>>>>With the cpu upgrade to 2 GHz, wireless, Harmon Kardon built-in speaker, has a bigger screen (15.4 inch) AND it cost only around $827.00 !!!! It's a much better laptop than the Compaq.

looks like it's worth the pay but because it's a compaq i woudn't get it and also because it's wondows vista. u can't even run executables so lets say if u need to add a new programm for projects or because they want u to put the programms in the computer, vista wont let u and if u buy new things for ur laptop u would need to download the drivers from the internet.

You will need at Least 1GB of ram memory and possibly a larger hard drive. Vista is a memory hog. Otherwise the specs. look good. If you know someone who bought one ask how it worked from them or problems they encountered.
