maturity to me is being solely responsible for my good and bad right and wrong, not blaming anyone else for my misfortunes and giving nobody else credit for my accomplishments

Interesting question. I have a nine year old that defines maturity (in many but not all ways) I see it as exhibiting a broad perspective that does not always focus on self when dealing with people and events. The ability to not take things personally and to understand that the world evolves on it's own with out that individual being at the center of all events. This ability allows for a greater occurrence of kindness and allows the individual to move through events with greater ease.

Maturity has to do with how far you're able to see into the future. Instead of indulging in the "now", you prepare for tomorrow. The payoff is greater, but it takes longer. An immature person cannot delay gratification and never really accomplishes much because of it.

To take responsibility for your own actions, even if they were wrong. To pass on wisdom and know the difference between wanted and unwanted advice. I think these things can only come from maturity and experience.

A person responds to the circumstances or environment in an appropriate manner; often this implies a response that is reasoned or learned rather than impulsive.

Being able to get through one sentence without cursing, which is how most of the kiddies on here show their real age.

Also, being responsible, accepting the fact that the world does NOT revolve around you and being able to have longlasting relationships with people other than your family and school friends. It also means being able to accept that everyone, including yourself, has faults and that there's not a lot you can do about it.
