the father in laws forester electrical light came on. he has been told its the lombard sensors,he has apparently had them reset,but its come back on again? is this the correct name for these sensors,because ive tried googling it and came up with nothing.if any one knows or can provide a link i would be grateful,and are they expensive.cheers.

The light is probably the orange "check engine" light, not the electrical light.

The sensors are "lambda" (from the Greek letter "λ") sensors, also known as oxygen sensors. They sense oxygen in the exhaust gases to ensure the fuel injection system provides the right amount of fuel for the engine to run at the optimum air-fuel ratio (known as λ=1).

I think Neil is right but I had an Impreza that had a failure in the 'crank angle sensor' which also caused the orange 'engine' light to come on.
