Before you buy, something no one tells you is that PDAs have worse phone service than regular cell phones .. you will lose 1-2 bars of signal strength.

As a student myself, I own the Palm TX with Palm's universal keyboard.
Things you should look for (in no particular order):
Card slot type
Resolution
Built in mic
Built in speaker
Headphone Jack
WiFi
Bluetooth
IR
Included software
And your budget.

The Palm TX for $266.99 and Palm keyboard for $52.98 together from amazon total to $319.97. I recommend using this setup.

There is one decision you must make before plunging into buying a PDA and that is deciding between getting a Palm or Pocket PC. Palms are simple and easy to use. Pocket PCs have more advanced options.
Another pick would be linux PDAs, the Zaurus series, which you will mostly find on ebay. One of my friends has a Zaurus and he used it with his WiFi CF card to wardrive around streets and crack networks.
