So I was walking though the Block at Orange County, Ca today (a shopping center, and this hip-hop/rapper wannabe comes up to me and asks me to but his CD. I said no, but he kept insisting that he was going to be on MTV and BET next month and stuff. He looked like a rapper so i just paid him 10 bucks b/c he was annoying me. When i went home, i realized that the CD was blank and i was a victim of this idiot's fraud. the ten bucks is not really a big deal for me, but i dont want this moron to continue to defraud people. What can i do?

I'm suprise the security was so lax in the Block. If he is stupid enough to come back, call the police. Don't buy anything just because the guy is irritating. It only encourage them. I have to go to Tu TU Tango one of these days.

Expensive lesson for a single blank CD, is it recordable?

Did it have a label on it? If so then this guy is probably trying to commit fraud, but I am willing to bet that it was blank and he did it because he needed ten bucks at that moment.

I don't know how you can get him, or if it is even worth it. But, more often than not it seems that our first instincts are the ones to go with. I remember quite a few times when I thought something out and convinced myself to do it was right, but went against my first impressions.

Now days I listen to what my brain first says, often it is pretty smart and makes a good decision. I don't always follow what my first instincts say; I reason it out when I make a decision. But, I give my first instincts a lot of weight. In your case I would have continued on walking. But, then even the best of us can't escape fraud every time. I have been taken a time or two myself. The key is to remember the lesson and to not let it happen again.

In the future give your brain more credit and listen to those early instincts you will regret it if you don’t.

When you have an instinct or a feeling about something it is the subconscious and the conscious part of your brain working together to reach a decision. You may not always be right, but at least you will have used the best information that you have available to you at the time. If you have time then you can reason out the choice, but usually you are right the first time. If not then look at it this way at least you will feel good because you followed your first instinct.

for starters this needs to be reported to the police. the police can take the necessary steps to getting the information from who the email address is registered to. they can get the ISP address to the computer as well. Yahoo won't release that information to just anybody. But on the flip side since the crime took place probably by someone who lives in Nigeria, chances are that nothing can be done about it unless the state you live in is willing to extradite (charge and go and pick up) from Nigeria. But if that person comes into the U.S. it is possible for them to bhe picked up and there is a chance that you are not the only person that this has happened too. this could be far fetched but the local police where you live could do some invesigating contact the police in nigeria and see what they can dig it and it is possible that the person that done this to you has done it to someone down there and Nigeria could charge them with local charges if they have laws protecting the citizens from this type of fraud. On another note, the police could tell you that this is a civil matter. Granted there was a criminal act involved, you agreed to send the camera before the payment was recieved and therefore you may have to petition your local court, get a lawyer, and take the person that frauded you to court here in the U.S. but again they are going to have to show up for you to get the money back... wish you luck with this one. hope the info helped.

You could do a police report with description of guy, clothing & where he was at the time. Or the shopping center is large, they may have their own guards that should be made aware that their customers are being bothered. At least someone could be watching for possible prevention. Sometimes these shopping centers have video cameras toward the parking lots, too.

You will be out of your $10 no matter what with a cheap lesson on a few of the crooks in the world.

Well if he is always around the block, or shopping center people would already know he is a fraud.
All you have to remember is to "Listen to your feelings.Listen to your Highest Thoughts.Listen to your experience.Whenever any one of these differ from what you have been told by any one, or read somewhere, forget the words. Words are the least reliable purveyor of Truth. "
Also think positive. Like attract like. If you think negative thoughts, those negative thoughts would turn into your experience, which is a negative experience. And don't worry about the others. You only worry your Self. Worrying thought is negative thought. It will bring negative experiences into your life.

If you see him again at the mall next time you go, PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE. Ha! Just kidding. Contact Mall Security, and have them on the lookout for the man.
