I have a 3.73 GPA as of 11th grade. In 10th grade I screwed up. In 9 & 11th grade I had a 4.0 Next year, I plan to recieve a 4.0 as well, bringing up my GPA. Almost every class I have taken (in every subject) has either been advanced placement, or accelerated. For electives-debate, band, French, film, & yearbook. I am enrolled at the community college taking multiple classes. I have been employed at a tutoring center for the past two years. I teach catechism at my church, & am involved in various activities there as well. I am a member of NAHS, NHS, People to People, as well as other clubs (Human Rights, V-Day, Key, Environmental, Math, Literary, French, &Animal Welfare). Along with my friend, we started an informational group regarding Darfur at our school. I assisted my film teacher on his graduate project. I have only taken the ACT once, recieving a score of 29. I will retake this in the fall w/ the SAT.

What are the chances of getting into MSU, U of M, NYU, Brown, & UCLA?

You have a good chance at getting into many of the Universities you mentioned here. Make sure you apply in time to the ones you have mentioned, along with several more. The more schools you apply to, the more chance you have of getting into a good school.

You may want to take a study course on how to do well on the SAT/ACT.

The judgments are made based on 10th and 11th grades. The 9th and 12th grade scores can help tip the balance if the schools are undecided on you. Being a minority (Black, Hispanic or American Indian--but not Asian) can also help you--for example if you are Hispanic, join MECHA--so they can see it on your application that you are a minority.

If for some reason you DO NOT get into one of the schools you had hoped for, you can go to a 'lesser' school for 2 years let's say, then re-apply to your desired school and enter as a junior!! Make sure your grades are good though. Don't get discouraged if you don't get your first pick of schools. This transferring as a junior works VERY WELL and you still get a degree from Brown, UCLA, etc even though the first two years were at another school!!!
Good luck!

Your ACT is good, and your activities are strong. Your GPA, while reasonable, is not as strong as some, and unfortunately, most of the schools you list are very competitive. You should have no trouble getting into MSU (I assume this is Michigan, not Mississippi, since you mention U of M, not Ole Miss, as another option). The other three are possibilities, but you aren't a sure thing for any of them. Unfortunately, while you do need to keep your grades up this year, you will have to apply before you can show your senior year performance.
