Only if they catch the Angles. The wild card is coming from the central.

Ichiro has the talent to hit .400. The Mariners making the playoffs this season? Not a chance. I don't see them beating the Angels, and the wild card will come from the East. Too many deficiencies in this roster. The loss of Hargrove doesn't help either. If they make major overhauls, they might grab the wild card. I doubt it happening, though.

They could, but look at the standings: after the 3 division leaders (Red Sox, Tigers and Angels), there's the INDIANS.

Mariners so far are at 2nd in the wild card race (see source).

However, if Mariners will be going too inconsistent with McLaren, then they may be out of the race sooner or later.

I'm a huge M's fan, but I'm saying no. Angels are pretty much uncatchable in the west. I think whoever doesn't win the central between Detroit & Cleveland will be the wild card. I think they have a chance but I don't think so. Hargrove was a big part of our success & the starting rotation needs some help.

C'mon Big Mike, don't jinx our Tigers! Remember when that dopey sportswriter picked us to win the WS in three games last year? I think in the first 1/2 of the season the four best AL teams are Boston, Detroit, Cleveland and LA Angels....For them M's to make the playoffs, they would probably have to catch the Angels, the wildcard looks to be either Detroit or Cleveland.....the Twins have an outside chance.....

there on a role, but L.A. is too tough. The Angels will run away lead by power and speed, along with pitching. if Richie can find a second half power serge than Seattle is good to go, but he is having a terrible year. I say L.A. wins the division by 5 games

You'll have the answer to the first question after the first weekend of the second half when the Tigers sweep the M's.
