I agree with "kelly". Showing a little respect to your islamic host country would be appreciated.

I really do not know where you're problem is. On one hand you say you like attention and on the other hand you do not like to be "famous?" You also say you hate to go to Arab countries. The only purpose for wearing a mini skirt or other sexy clothes is for men to look, right? So, why to complain about the result?

Well, your problem is very easy to solve: dress properly or don't come to an Arab country.

Dubai is very westernized an has no dress code. Still the best thing to do is to wear a long skirt or a skirt up to your knees. No tank tops showing half of your breast or belly free.
No shorts either when going shopping or going to a restaurant. If you do not want to be looked at while swimming, stay in a hotel with a own beach and avoid going to the public beach.

It's all up in your own hands. If you wear "provoking" clothes you will be stared at. If you dress properly you won't have any problems and if still somebody "stares" at you (like in every other country), ignore him.

Btw: Arab women do not wear "things". They wear the abaya and hijab. Maybe you should gather some information about the countries you want to visit BEFORE you go there.

Take care

There's a saying - "When u r in Rome, act like a Roman"
You dressing style definately attract ppls attention which making u uncomfortable everytime. I agree that u can't juz give up everything for others but u can cover up some more portion of ur body like instead of mini-skirt u can put on long skirt...
In Dubai situation is different...ppl are very open minded, hardly got time to keep staring on show off skin. You hv liberty to wear anything from bikini to mini-skirt.
Welcome to Dubai!!!

Well u got to understand the culture in arabic countries?? Its something that they usually don't get to see around. The culture doesn't allow women to dress as u du....so its obvious that they stare at you. Well ..u actually can't avoid that if u wanna wear what u like....but then i guess there are better things to wear than the arabic wear...as in casual wear ...one word of caution ..the Arabics do not like women weraing tight clothes or for that matter the minis..... so better be carefull...have fun

Ok and this is not to hurt your feelings but i spend a lot of time in duabi. The only females that wear clothes such as you described is the prostitutes that hang out and the major hotels. and not even they wear stuff that skimpy. You do NOT have to wear the clothes that they choose to adorn themselves in but some sence of modisty is ENCOURAGED. Try a short sleave shirt and long airy skirt or something below the knee. seriously you have to respect their culture a little bit if you plan to be there and that is why they stare at you like that. Like i said not even the "working" girls dress like you do.

and be carefull because you can actually be arrested for dressing like you do..... just to let you know.

well u answered yourself
u wore a bikini and a short skirt
really modest ..
u said that u wore a bikini and mini skirt because it was hot eh ?
it is proven by science that u shoudl wear more clothes in hot weather but u should choose teh colors carefully light colors are cool
the only reason they stare at you is because you give them a reason to stare at you
waer good decent modest clotehs and no one will even look at you twice

I live in Egypt. It was what you were wearing. In middle eastern cultures, only prostitutes wear shorts; short skirts. You dont have to wear what they wear. People here wear clothing that is cool, its just that they dont show their legs & arms. The local police will talk to you.

Ignore them. They are probably fantasizing about you. No offense, you look different to them and it is not often when they see someone different. Do you have to wear what the women in those countries have to wear even though you are not a citizen in their country? I was just wondering.

I think you really need to "get over yourself." Don't focus on who is looking at your or why (who cares!); try to improve yourself by learning something about the countries you are visiting. You sound very self-absorbed and shallow.

They were looking at you because they don't dress in bikinis and miniskirts over there...They dress very conservatively...You probably wouldn't understand that...*L*...

dont mind them..if they stare are you, just ignore them...continue with what you're doing and make them realize what they're doing actually dont bother you at all...
trust me, the more you ignore them, the more it gets into their nerves...and at the end of the day, it's them who will get annoyed...
