Insects that do not fulfill some purpose in the world would not have evolved. It might not seem that way to humans, but each insect does something to maintain the balance of life on Earth.

If by 'valid purpose' you mean a benefit to humans, probably not. We need insects for a lot of environmental processes like pollinating most plants, eating dead animals etc but I can't say every species will benefit people.
Do they have to? Do all People have a valid purpose?

A creature does not have to have a purpose, it generally developed in the most efficient manner at the time. Things evolve in order to: live and procreate. That's all.
Their purpose is when other organisms come into play. Fod webs, both predators and prey, geographic tendencies, other things that insects can change.

The 'purpose' of any living thing is to survive and reproduce. Anything additional is an anthropomorphic unnatural assumption which does not actually apply to anything living. Do you have a 'valid purpose?'

Yes, every living organism on the planet is part of the web of life. They are all interconnected and the whole system is dependent on every organism doing its part. We humans have been trying our best for some time now, to seriously disrupt this system (without even paying attention to how it works) for a long time now.
