All cell phone companies require a credit check of the person prior to activation of any new cell phone service. They will ask for a drivers license, home address, phone number and social security.

Once the credit check is done and the credit score is low then the cell phone company will require a deposit down on top of any phone purchase.

However if you have a good credit score then you should not have any problems. The only way that you can get a cell phone services through most cell phone companies without any contract or credit checks is to purchase a prepaid cell phone. You can buy it at Best Buy, Walmart, Target retail stores.
