I want to use 2gb ram 533mhz or 677mhz for my desktop windows vista, but is there a lot of difference in gaming performance between the two?

Hardly noticeable especially if you already have a fast processor. Gaming performance is LOT MORE dependent on the video card:
1. GPU architecture - more shaders or stream processors, the better.
2. Core clock speed - higher is better.
2. Onboard memory clock speed - higher is better. 256Mb ddr3 beats 512Mb ddr2.

you're able to would desire to verify that your computing device can run RAM at that speed - if it may, then it can be a extreme high quality progression. If it may purely run 533, however, setting up 667 could be pointless - the two your 667 RAM could run at 533MHz, or it might desire to (hypothetically) injury your computing device. verify on the specs to your computing device or its motherboard to confirm, or touch me with the aid of right here in case you desire help finding it. wish this facilitates!

nope. won't be much of an increase till you get over 800 mhz due to how ddr2 translates the data ddr400 compared to ddr2 800 overall runs fairly equal due to how each handles data.whcih that actually surprised me probably why ddr2 is soo cheap

The 677 will technically be faster if your motherboard supports it. But the difference is so subtle.
