It takes longer as you have to interact a long time before you can judge their character. But I think that one can make good friends online, as long as everyone is honest.

Though I have never done it myself, I do think it is a legitimate way to meet people. It's a comfortable way of talking, and if you don't like them, there isn't any pressure to let them down easily or be nice. Besides, internet sites such as eHarmony are just for suggesting someone you might like. The actual meeting happens when you decide to meet up with the person. I'd say it's a lot like a blind date. Where you might use a friend to get information about someone for a blind date, online you are using the internet to get the same information. They are one-in-the-same.

Yes. I have met five to six people online now and then offline after some time and they remain to this day wonderful close friends. I never would have met them if not for the internet, and I would tell everyone it's not scary or weird. (Five of the friends are men and one is now the girlfriend of one of the men.)

In a sense, yes. I have two very good friends I met that way. I do keep them in cyberspace, though.

I have one who is like another brother to me, going on 2 and a half years.

I have another one, who is in a class by himself...enough said...
