Who could tell it more than me. There is none indeed. Like everything else, friendship is also a timely thing. the period may be longer or shorter, but it's not eternal, it's bound to fade with time. Whenever we think that we've found a friend for life, we're making ourselves weaker with expectation. One day it has to change, and it does.
On our own side we can remain honest, upright, truthful, but all these don't guarantee a lifelong friendship, you don't know what the other soul is up to.
So be open, frank, and don't depend too much on a single chord,

I guess it's trust, honesty and always experiencing something new with your friend. It gets boring if you always do the same, and the friendship won't be that long because you'll get sick of doing the same over and over again with the same person.
