Hello all, I am a Freshman in High School and I am really interested in designing games. I'd like to know if you guys have any suggestions on some programs to use to create games such as the ones on miniclip.com/ addictinggames.com/ gamesloth.com etc. I have already downloaded the program Alice 2.0, but I'm looking for something different. Any help is very much appreciated.

A good starting point is something like DarkBasic. Its made for learning to program games. It has most of the hard parts of a game already programmed so you can cut-n-paste them into your own project.

Of course, eventually if you want to sell games then you might shift to something else but it will help you get a firm basis in games without blowing you away by trying to teach you all the hard stuff from scratch.

Or look into "game engines". Those are programs which are created so that you can build a game inside it by just designing the graphics, sounds, etc.

The best thing you can do is go to a video game colege like Digipen. Nintendo recruits from this school sometimes.

I think there's a macromedia flash maker you might be interested in. Go to the macromedia website.
