How smart is a Magpie-lark?

There is a little Magpie-lark that keeps tormenting the little dog next door. It sure looks like it's the bird teasing the dog. But are they that smart?

The only magpies I know are as large as crows. You may not call them smart, but they are certainly cunning enough and vicious enough to torment a small dog. Magpies are almost impossible to shoot. While they will perch nearby looking for garbage or carrion if you are empty-handed, if you leave your house with a gun in your hand, they disappear before you get out the door.
