but they still have to say it is from the penitentiary. When a worker calls out on their office phone do they still have to announce it is from the jail?

Or is it some sick inmate from the jail. We have no clue who he is. But he yells at her to accept the call. I accepted it once and he told me he works there.

It's not that I don't know what to do. I want to know if he really works there. It doesn't make since that if he works there to make an outside phone call that they have to announce it is from jail.

It's kind of freaky cause he said he wanted to buy one of her cat. I told him that the cat is not for sale and he keeps calling. I'm not sure how a inmate would even know she has a cat. He even said the black cat not the orange one. I have no clue, he knows too much.

call the police...
and how does he have ur 13 year old daughter's number???
is she in trouble with the law or something?:S
does he know her name and if so, how?!
i'd say ur daughter probably knows what's happening.
keep tabs on her first.

Actually that is an easy one, get in contact with your phone company and get exact times and dates of the call, then get in touch with the warden of the prison, all prisons can get phone records from all in house phones and pay phones the inmates use, give him the times and dates and he will do the rest. They probably monitor all inmate phones from cameras and if it is in house then it shoud be easier to figure out.

It is an inmate. I had similar calls and looked into it further.
Inmates can only make collect calls, so you have to accept the call in order for it to go through.
The simple solution is to say "no", not accept the call and hang up.

Next time it happens, call the police and report it, telephone harrasment is against the law and if he truely is an employee, he won't be for long. How did he get your phone number if your daughter didn't give it to him? Sounds as if you need to counsel your daughter on her choices in people she associates with.

Call the police and they will monitor all the calls and trace them, if they are from the pen they will not be working there but behind the bars
