iraq occupation is definitely colonial mentality.

so yes....they are doing it on the sly by propping up their puppet regime and telling the iraqis what to do and what not to do and what kind of goverment they can have.

Yes, you are wrong. I am an American, living in America, and so far, the country that attempt to colonize others is most then all the United States of America.

Canada has nothing to do with that, I don´t know about the 34 other coutries.

Yes, you are wrong. What's happening in Iraq could be considered an occupation, but colonization is a very different process in which civilians come to permanently live and work in the foreign land, to the economic benefit of thier nation. It would make more sense to say that Mexico is colonizing America, for instance, than to say that America is colonizing Iraq.

Oh yea! As soon they open up for settlement I know I am going to rush over to live in poverty and misery (not to mention the heat and lack of any technology). All that joy would be mine until I'm blown up by some roadside bomb. Then I guess the misery would be gratefully over.

I have to say I think you may be wrong.

colonizing is the wrong word. We're establishing our influence in a politically important region. Maybe one day....
