I've heard that there is an enzyme in soy protein that mimics estrogen and interfere's with testosterone production. Can you confirm or deny this? If it is a problem, how much is too much?

Thanks so far but still, how much is too much. I don't use protein supplements but I do drink soy milk and eat tofu. Are those bad for you?

Soy is absolutely safe for men! The phytoestrogens in soy do not act like real estrogen in the body; they will not feminize you in any way, even after many years of eating soy several times a day. It is just alarmism encouraged by the meat industry that makes men fear soy. Asians families have used soy extensively for centuries with no ill effects. And my own family has used it for decades, and all of us guys are perfectly normal, fertile, randy guys.

The thing to fear is hormones in meat! That stuff can really mess with you.

Very much so. I personally avoid it as a male. Not to say you shouldn't eat it at all, but you should avoid soy supplementation (e.g. - Soy Protien Drinks and products that contain soy protien isolate).

Soy Products contain:

Phytoestrogens: (isoflavones) genistein and daidzein, which mimic and sometimes block the hormone estrogen

Phytates: which block the body's uptake of minerals

Enzyme Inhibitors: which hinder protein digestion

Haemaggluttin: which causes red blood cells to clump together and inhibits oxygen take-up and growth.

Read the back of any protien bar you eat. Some of them have Soy Protein isolate as a source of protien. Stick with other sources of protien and if you drinkl protein shakes, go with Whey (Fast Digesting) or Micellar Casein (Slow Digesting).
