I would say Derek Jeter not only cause he's my favorite player but he is a very good SS and he makes plays that no other shortstop make like that amazing jumping throw and he hit around 1200 singles in his career and each and every year he has an average of higher than .330 avg.

Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees. Besides he's been a Yankee since he was 18 yrs old & has been their shortstop the whole time.

How can you not like DJ? The thing about Jeter is he does so much to spark his team....Rarely do players have so many intangibles......Remember him diving into the stands in the playoffs, or the back up play to get Jeremy Giambi at the plate vs. the A's....of course you do....they are legendary plays that Jose Reyes, Carlos Guillen, JJ Hardy and anybody else playing will never make....the only other guy in history I could think of doing that off the top of my head would be Ozzie Smith....Ripken, A-Rod, never could have made those plays..... not to mention his being "Mr. Novemeber" in the 2001 WS.....

Apparently you want everyone to say Jose Reyes, because everyone who says Reyes is getting a thumbs up, while everyone who says Derek Jeter is getting a thumbs down. Why ask people who they think is the best if you are only going to give them a thumbs down if they don't think the same as you?
BTW, Jeter is the best. .318 career average, on his way to over 3000 hits, the best player on four championships, hitting almost .340 this year. Jeter all the way, and if no one likes it too bad.
As for that Saints person, I have no idea what they are talking about. What does Bonds have to do with the question? Some people are just clueless.

The best shortstop in MLB is Dereck Jeter. Jose Reyes is no where near DJ, being captain of the Yankees says a lot about him; plus he's got better avg. and more power and more fielding range. It's a no brainer.

Jose Reyes
Jeffrey S, you just don't have a clue. All I said was Jose Reyes in my answer, nothing else, and I got a thumbs down. So your initial rant about getting a thumbs down is bogus since I got a thumbs down. Stop whining about getting a thumbs down and just be a man. Goodness!
Seeing as to how you like to go to the Gay section to bash gay's and you are a rabid Yankees fan, your response is not unexpected at all. It definitely shows your insecurities. I looked at some of your answers and it was clearly apparent. God Bless You and I Send My Prayers!

1. Jeter
2. Hanley Ramirez ( best fantasy SS)
3. Reyes
4. Rollins
5. Guillen (defense is holding him back)
And the only reason Jeter has more hits than Ichiro in the last 10 years is because he has 1,401 more ABs.
