Yes, also in balling, falling, telling, spelling, etc. In a word ending in e (like hide, abide, tide, etc), you drop the e and add ing. If it ends in a y (like lobby), you just add the ing.
By the way, you double the p to make dropping; the d for adding; the t for batting; the g for begging.
