...well, it was actually stolen and it was my engagement ring...I used to keep it in my top dresser drawer when I was doing "messy" work and one day, I made the mistake of letting my neighbor see me put it there....it disappeared after that and so did she...

I'm sure there is something in the past but I can't remember right now - The only thing I can think of recently is my prescription sunglasses. It had been about three years since I had a new pair so my husband & I decided I could get a new pair and he told me to get whatever I wanted because I deserved it after the crappy year we have been having. Plus it was my first Mother's Day so it was to be my gift. So I picked out the most awesome pair and even with my insurance they were still pretty expensive. Three weeks later someone stole them out of my office when I was in the bathroom.

My high school class ring. A boy was wearing it on a chain around his neck. We were standing at his locker when he unclasp the chain, and the heavy platinum ring slid down the other side. We heard it bounce, but couldn't see it - a chrome-colored ring on a gray cement floor. Just then the class bell rang, a thousand kids poured into the halls, and it was gone for good.
Even though my name was engraved inside, no one ever turned it in. (To this day it still makes me mad as heck!) There was a National Honor Society award on one side that I couldn't replace unless I earned it again, so I never got another one.
Moral of the story: do NOT give your boy (or girl) friend your class ring! Let them wear your letter jacket - in the winter, so they won't loose it!

The most expensive thing I broke did not have monatary value, it was a vase that my mother had when she lived in Belgium during WW II, I broke it and it hurt more than breaking something that might have cost hundreds of dollars.

It is not necessarily broken or lost -- it is something that MY Ex (sociopathic and violent/abusive -- whom I divorced over a decade and half ago) BURGLARIZED from MY HOME in August 2006 -- which is a Diamond Ring set -- and everything else that he damaged/stole that day ....

my dad's rolex. Ohhh, was that bad. I dropped it on concrete and the back fell off. Who knew Rolex's were so fragile? I didn't tell him and hid it in his desk, but my brother (who was with me when I broke it) tattled tailed on me later because I got to go to a friends house and he didn't.
