could be your hormones causing it to worsen the symptoms. are you on anything for them? if not try talking to your doctor and explaining it to him, he could fix you up in no time. i know before my period when i wasn't on meds my panic attacks would be horrible, to the point where i couldn't function at times. also, are you on birth control? the hormones in the birth control could be making it worse also, on top of the fact that you already suffer from panic attacks. talk to your doctor though to make sure!

Hi! I’m so sorry to hear you’re feeling bad. It may be that the unnotcied changes in your body during this time, both mentally and physcially (e.g. slighenly hightened body tempertaure) contributes to a feeling of stress. I had panic attacks for 15 years and found a profound change as soon as I started Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The key to making it work for me was really working and sticking at it. The following 3 steps eliminated my panic attacks:
1.Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.
2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks and social anxiety. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. You can speak to your doctor about taking a course or you can take a course for free online at: http://www.livinglifetothefull.com/ It has been funded by NHS Scotland and has had great results thus far.
3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. This site has instructions on how to do it without the tapes (and other useful info): http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resources/minipax.cfm?mini_ID=23
I hope this helps and you feel better soon. Don’t give up hope! Best of luck!

I have the same problem and mine always gets worse before my period and its because of your hormones, just try and stay away from caffeine and anything that gives u extra energy. also try and keep yourself busy and your mind active. usually during this time i am always trying to do something and also during this time you are very emotional and you might let the small things get to you. just know that it will be over soon.

I'm not surprised. Talk to your dr. about a pre-period medication you could take to prevent panic attacks.

Hi, I have the same problem. I just chalk it up to PMS and the hormones doing their thing. I get edgy and a little extra sleep seems to help a lot. Good luck.

It's because of low estrogen, a.k.a. hormones. Just remind yourself that it's your hormones causing you to feel like this, and it makes it easier to deal with. Almost all women experiance that to one degree or another. Birth control might actually help you, worth giving it a shot.
