Induction would not be considered against the law because the purpose is to get labor going at a time when the baby is viable and healthy. There are other things that cause contractions to start besides induction (i.e. vigorous activity, spicy foods, intercourse, castor oil, etc.) and these could never be considered illegal.
However, I DO believe induction should only be used if there is a medical reason for it because induction simply for convenience can't be justified since it carries some risk like increasing your chance of interventions and surgery.

Better not be because they will be inducing my labor as soon as I hit 40 weeks. They induced me at 38 weeks last time because I was suffering from extreme issuse caused by gall stones. It wasn't an emergency, but it really was making me uncomfortable and stressed out, so my mid-wife broke my water.
They just want to wait as long as possible. My midwives didn't want to induce any earlier than 38 weeks, but some other doctors were willing to do it earlier. I think it is based more on the preference of the OB and the risks than the legality of it.

I don't believe inducing labor is against the law anywhere in the US. It would be against an ethical code to induce before the baby was ready to come out or for non medical reasons. I know a girl that just had her baby induced on the 30th because her husband had leukemia. He died on the 2nd but that is an extreme example.

for some women if you do not induce labor you not only risk the life of the baby but also the mother
in the case of a mother who is overdue, babies past 40 weeks gestation tend to have placenta that become old and stop supplying apple nutrients and oxygen, so it isnt against the law, im having a c-section at 37 weeks, not 40 because of preterm labor.

It's not against the law. It's either done for medical reasons or because the mother wants to have a scheduled delivery date.
It's not recommended to do this before full term. But some women try to induce labor themselves by walking, taking black cohosh, etc.

I do not think it is against the law, but i would not want my labor induced. Alot of doctors are doing it this way now though. I think they believe that it will reduce the risk of complications. But i say there will always be complications and I would just let nature take its course.

I like where youre going with this, i skip school loads. Usually if u go to ur mom nd say u dont feel well, she shud let u stay off school . If she doesnt let u say youll be no use in school anyway because your feeling sick, and you wont be able to focus. It works better if you say feel sick the night b4 so it doesnt arouse suspicion. Failing that, what ive done a couple of times is fake notes from my parents which are writen by friends saying i was ill yesterday and didnt come in. Howver ive been caught once and was in deep truble so i wouldnt recommend it, only a last resort. I dont really have any other ideas, the sick trick is the best i fink. Anyway good luck, hope it works! Elle, South dakota xxxxxxx

I don't really understand your question.are you asking if it's illegal to have a birth induced when the child's health might be put at risk? As far as I know no medical procedures can be performed on an adult of "sound mind" without that person's consent.

Induction is legal at any time during the pregnancy when the expectant mother gives consent to be induced.

You can induce for any reason, but make sure your dr is ok with it. I am planning on a scheduled induction b/c my husband's job is very unpredictable. It is the same thing as a scheduled c-section.
