As a widow with 3 kids ages 2, 6 and 9.....where should I move to "start over"?

I have plenty of money to buy a decent, nice house for us and to help me live thanks to my husbands Life Insurance & Social Security.

Somewhere with plentiful jobs & activities, low crime rates, great schools and 'tolerable' cost-of-living.

Only places I won't move are California, Florida or Montana (lived in all 3 places and HATED them!!)

I'm willing/amenable to living Overseas as well.

So what do you guys think???

A friend of mine is moving with her 2 kids to Guatemala (I don't know for how long). I don't think Guatemala is that safe, but who knows...I've never been there.
Merida, Yucatan, Mexico (where I live is pretty safe, actually, the 2nd city with lowest crime rate in Mexico). It's cheap, but soooo stinking hot!! But, you can always go to a sink hole, the beach or even go to Cancun (4 hours away from here).
There are plenty of foreigners living in the city. Since it's Mexico, it's also family oriented. A perfect place to raise a family.
I've lived in Louisiana and it's pretty safe, but kind of boring, I'd say. Tennessee is pretty safe as well. You can always find a place either in Nashville or in the suburbs and have plenty of things to do.
I'd pray about it, and travel around and I'm pretty sure you'll find the perfect place to live.
I moved back to Merida after living in China for 13 months and I don't mind staying here for the rest of my days. It's a beautiful place. ahh by the way, and if you're a teacher, you can even get a job here. I know people who need English teachers :)

You really should look into moving to Canada or overseas to France or Germany. It is much more affordable, there is a more relaxed attitude there (Americans are workaholics and more uptight in general). A huge plus is the public health care available. If you're looking for a bright future for your children and yourself, these are great places. Americans seem to be getting the crap end of the stick anymore. They keep taking away benefits, etc. I don't know what will be left to take from in the near future.

I heard that Scandinavian countries (Finland, Norway, Denmark, etc...) are the best place to raise a child. They have good child welfare and educational system. In fact children's rights are enforced in these countries. Though I forgot which specific country had the best. Just research further.

South west Western Australia- the most beautiful place, beaches, forest, small community, great schools...I wouldn't raise my kids anywhere else.
