Ive been so shy for a long time that i seem to avoid people that know me everywhere i go.. Im tired of the avoidance but i fear not knowing what to say to people when i come across them in stores and other places.. I have to stop this behavior.. its too much work to keep doing this.

Just exchange a few pleasantries. For example, Hey Bob, how's it going today? Hi Donna, it's nice to see you again. Blah, blah blah. How's your family? Give me a call sometime. What have you been up to lately. I don't see much of you anymore. Maybe we can hang out sometime. Use anything like this just to break the ice. They'll respond unless they feel your past behavior has been a form of rudeness. If all else fails just say Hi. Nothing ventured nothing gained. GO FOR IT.
