Absolutely not, the entire premise is obscene. Never, in recorded history, has a conquering nation ever "given back" the land they captured. Since the dawn of diplomatic relations, the winner of the wars controls the disputed land. The whole concept of reservations and compensation is completely absurd. This idea is cultivated by an overly politically correct media, and has no logical stand. I don't even believe they should be considered separate nations with independent laws (think casinos) In the past, when a land was taken, the natives must either conform to the new society or leave. It is disgusting to see so many brainwashed people who have a warped understanding of what is morally right.

A bit tough since one of the reasons for the Indian Wars is that we assumed the ind ... (native Americans) held land ownership the way we did and could understand selling rights to it, which they did not in many cases. I understand that the people we paid for Manhattan didn't actually reside there - they "sold" the land out from under another tribe.

First off let me explain something....to the person who said we Indians all died?.....We are still here my friend....100's of American Indian Nations.........and as far as the "Land Bridge" that is a theory....nothing more....if you have read some of my answers directed to Indians you will see I have explained that more times than I care to....the history books you all read were written by the europeans and that is their side and theories.....no one has even bothered to have our input .....also the comment about casinos.....not all reservations are living "High off the HOG!"....there are many nations that do not have casinos....there are many reservations that are the poorest in this country.....some do not even have running water....or indoor plumbing.....I love ....how "Know it all's"....seem to know so much about us Indians.....but in most cases have never been around Real Skins!......as far as your question goes......even if that were possible.....it would never happen.....it would be just like the treaties...(all lies)......

Do you mean the entire USA? That would be a bit difficult, what would you do with all of the non-native americans?

Not to mention, we killed off all of the native americans

and distroyed their land.

But I feel that they should be allowed to claim land where ever they want, and not just abandoned federal property.

The people who are here today did nothing. Maybe some of our ancestors did. I don't know about you but I'm not giving up the land I bought. Did they own the land or were they just occupying the land?

We have and are still compensating them.

Explain how we stole it?
We didn't take the southwest, the Mexicans did. We won it from them in a war, except the part we bought.
The Souix lived in Minnisota until the 1830s then they defeated the Omaha and Kiowa for plains. The Navajo setteled in New Mexico after the Plymouth Colony was settled

What's with all this "we" crap? If you stole some land, give it back. I personally acquired some property from a lovely red skinned fellow for a few paltry trinkets and some rifles. I think we both made out pretty good on the deal, he seemed happy.

if we did, then where in the hell would we all go? Yes we raped the american natives of thier land, but if we didnt we would not be the country we are today. we would still be England.

so a few people took advantage of a primitive culture and took thier land, but this WAS over 200 years ago. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO GIVE AWAY ANYTHING, OR PAY ANYONE FOR SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED THAT LONG AGO?
I was not alive then, and none of it had anything to do with me.

No it's too late.We didn't steal it alone. The Spanish,English,French Dutch,Portuguese. They did the stealing. Then we took over and finished the job in 1776.Don't blame us for Central and South America. The Native Americans were stealing land and slaves from each other..By the way, can you think of any land anywhere in the world. That wasn't at one time or another stolen? It's the nature of the beast.Don't cry over only one set of victims. All of our ancestors at one time or another were victims.Maybe our descendents will be different.Who knows?

No one living today stole land from Native Americans. Well, baring any unscrupulous dealing realtors may have had with tribal councils that I don't know about.
