I'm running WinXP SP2 on an HP Pavilion *DESKTOP* and I'd like to set my PC to hibernate (not standby) after 60 minutes. However, the only option I have is a checkbox for "Enable Hibernation"- there is no option to specify how long to wait before hibernating. Can anyone tell me how to set it, or how long the system will wait before going into hibernation?

Thanks in advance.

System Standby and Hibernate are two different things. On the first tab, under "Power Schemes" I have a dropdown menu to choose Power Schemes such as Home/Office Desk or Portable/Laptop. Below that I have dropdown menus (under the "Settings for Home/Office Desk Power Scheme") "Turn off monitor", "Turn off hard disks" and "System Standby".

Is the hibernation setting the "Turn off hard disks" dropdown menu??

Go to Conrol Panel, make sure it is in classic view not categories view, go to power options. On the Power Schemes tab, near the bottom you should seen a pull down menu to set how long it takes before the system hibernates. You do need ot have hibernating enabled first.

Actually, the time setting is on the first page of the power options dialog. In power schemes, It's the last selection on the bottom
Good Luck
