wooooah, you actually asked if getting in the shower will get rid of your period? Wow you definitely should talk to your mom or someone because you need to know the ins and outs of your period and growing up. and NEVER go in the pool with a pad. Your blood will leak everywhere and once the pad fills with water where is the other blood thats coming out of your vagina going to go? In the water thats where and it will look like you have a wet soppy diaper on when the pad gets all wet. If you really want to go to this party and go in the water, you have to use a tampon. They are absolutely no big deal. I used a pad for an hour after I got my first period and I couldn't stand it, and ever since I used a tampon. Trust me, after you use a tampon you will be so relieved and thing yourself silly for all the stress you put yourself through. Go to the pool party, have fun, and learn to use tampons!!! Never go in the water with a pad on, I REPEAT NEVER!

First off, some of the information people are telling you is false. If you go into a body of water, you will not bleed all over the water. When I was in high school, I used to go swimming while on my period, without wearing a tampon, and no blood got in the water. The pressure from the water will keep the blood in you. Same thing goes if you take a bath or sit in a hottub.
Now, to answer your question, you probably could swim with a pad on, but why would you want to? They're bulky enough as it is, and the adhesive won't stick in the water, running the risk of the pad falling out. Not to mention, everyone will see the bulky pad through your swimsuit.
And now, on to the tampon...I highly suggest you talking to your mom. Chances are, she's been in your shoes once or twice before and will be totally understanding of your situation.

if you are a teenager you might want to tell your mom she has been through this herself and might have some good insights but i can tell you are a little leary so no you can't wear a pad in the pool it will fill up like a diaper does and possible end up floating ontop then you will be embarrassed you can use junior slender tampons mad by tapex they are shorter and slender for you little frame.also midol and pamprin will help if you get cramps but ask an adult first for the right dosage for your age and weight good luck with becoming a woman

no tampons are great in water. im a swimmer, i swim once a day and i use tampons all thetime, i have never had a problem with them in water, because water doesnt acsess into your vagina anyway, because there is no room for water to get in because of the tampon, just dont panic, tamppons are mostly for water.

No No No you cant do that. using a pad is not a good alternative. sorry. it would tear appart in the water blood would kindof go around you and it would fill up and evryone would notice it would be very embarassing to you. just use a tampon. tell your mom. im sure she wont mind getting you tampons. and if shes one of the peopel who believe that girls loose their virginity by using them the answer is you cant. so just go to her maturly and ask her and explain the situation. tampons arent bad i used to use them all the time.hope this helps!

Actually, for most women the blood stops when you are underwater (you wont bleed all over the water and gross people out), but if you are planning to be in and out of the water as I assume you would be if its a party then definitely don't use a pad, bad idea. In a lot of womens restrooms you can buy tampons for like 50 cents so if you are really too embarrassed to ask your mom then try looking around but otherwise I would ask your mom. Most mom's really aren't as naive as we think they are either, as I'm learning. She's probably been in the same situation at some point and I don't think she would want you to miss out on fun because you are on your period.

no you can't wear a pad, it'll get soaked, probably show through your bathing suit, and it might fall out. tampons are pretty east to put in, but if you need help, i think you should tell your mom. she probably went in the pool with tampons on before

It would be like a baby getting wet with a diaper on. It will fill up with water, you might as well not use anything. Just tell your mom that you want to use tampons and you need her help. She wants you to have fun at your own party. Trust her.

No you cant wear a pad going swimming. So you either have to skip it or wear a tampon. I suggest you try tampons because you don't have to keep missing out on the fun!

no. no. no. do not. do.not.do.it.

really, i know tampons seem weird and uncomfortable, but they're not. Talk to your mom and she'll get you some tampons and she will let you into the pool. It seems awkward to have to go up to your mom and talk about this stuff but it's not...she went through the exact same thing. So you don't have to ask these things on yahoo...just talk to her! (: It'll be fine. I swear.
