REALLY, REALLY, STRANGE......Let me tell you I could run out of space, use up my character allowance telling you how strange.
I've spent some years working in the inner-city with mentally ill, homeless, crack addicted, alcoholic, schizophrenic, paranoid-delusional.....every kind of diagnosis you can imagine, people.
I've met Jesus Christ so many times I stopped counting (mentally ill people really do have a fixation on JC) I had a client that thought he was a super-hero and wore a cape at all times, I mean; August ...90 degree's and he was swooping around, in this cape and some boots he dug out of the trash and spray painted gold, oh yeah, and that's a mild kinda strange. I once had a female client disappear for several days and when I did find her she was at the local park, and had taken off her prosthetic leg tied a string to it, and was fishing with it, you know in the scenic little lilly pond..........God only knows what she was using as bait. *** Now mind you I tell you these things as an example of strange, because I love my clients and laugh daily WITH THEM, but not at them; they just are, who they are.
I've had a client who truly thought he was a CIA agent and would pass off these notes to me, he always thought we were being watched, we would be driving in my car and he'd just start ducking, like we were being shot at, CRAZY, sometimes he would use duct tape and tape batteries to his head, which he explained to me was a way to ward off the messages that the CIA was trying to send him to de-program his brilliant mind, (and in many ways he actually is brilliant!).........now can you imagine taking someone out in the community to do their banking and they have D batteries duct taped to their head? I've just become completely jaded and unaffected by the way people respond and stare, I'm just hanging out with my people. Man, I love my job, I am so fortunate to know these people! I laugh so hard my stomach hurts at the end of the day.
