Why do we compare our criminal justice system and specifically, our policing practices, with crime control practices in other countries?

No reason for it really, we are just silly people with too much time on our hands and nothing good on TV.

movin on, lol! That was a hoot dude! But seriously, that's a good question because it'd be comparing apples to oranges. Our criminal justice system is as a result of the crime that occurs in our country (just like every other country I'm sure). Perhaps countries are compared for purposes of travel. It'd be good to know if the country your were planning on visiting had the world's largest crime rate and the worst police enforcement..

because most people think that our security system is much better than other counties, and like to be reminded of it..
