Well, I usually smile back, I dont enjoy being unpleasant and proud, but the kind of smile I give depends on the guy's looks: a cute and young guy, a nice and wide smile :)....an ugly and old one, a courtesy smile....call me shallow, but actually I'm honest....
of course, if I notice the guy to be a perv (trust me, you can notice it at once), I just ignore him!!! now, I'm not used to experience the wink thing, the smile game is usual, but the winks is a little too much....

I would assume they were hitting on me. Or maybe they lost a contact and wanted you to help them find it, and were hoping to convey that without having to actually say anything.
